My heart felt thanks Tommy for working on my laptop to get IM working.
I really appreciate it.I would be lost without IM,my stress reliever.. LOL...

Dear Connie, I'm going to have to go into long explanations, but these security questions on your Google account are up to you! I can't do anything remotely

As you know, you need to use an application password to use xxxx@gmail account in IncrediMail.
However, Google is making it more and more complex how to get that 16-character app password I explained to you when I logged into your computer.

Their last obligation is linked to “security keys”. you cannot have an application password generated if you have created a security key(s)...
Therefore, if you want to use your xxxxx@gmail account in IncrediMail, you must first delete the security keys you created.

Do a search in your Google account with the keywords "app password" and you will see that everything is explained there (even if it is complex!)
In summary, here is what Google says:
If you've set up two-step verification, but can't find the option to add an app password, here are the possible reasons:

Two-step verification is only configured for security keys in your Google account.
You are signed in to a work, school, or other organization account.
Advanced Protection is enabled on your account If you have set up two-step verification, but you can't find the option to add an app password, here are the possible reasons:


To delete a security key, Google says to do this:

Click the trash can icon next to a security key to delete it so that it is no longer associated with your Google account. When you delete the security key, you will be asked to confirm your choice. You may also need to log in to your Google account again.

Then follow the procedure to create the application password.

Try this and let me know, when it's done, I will install the Premium version and Letter Creator if you wish.

would let me sign in and use my IM.I would be willing to try anything at this point to my IM running again.

Connie, IncrediMail can work with any email account, but for some web mail it is necessary to use an "app password"
this is the case for xxxxx@gmail.com accounts and for xxxxx@yahoo.com accounts
Google has just made the procedure so complex that it is difficult to understand! Maybe someone reading the forum can help us...
I believe you have a Yahoo account, so it seems simpler: you have to go to the "Security" page of the Yahoo account, then on "Generate an application password" (at the bottom of this page) and finally select "Other" in the drop-down menu,
type: "Incredimail"; then copy/paste the password, which is then displayed in IncrediMail and validate with "O.K"
The Yahoo email account can thus be used by IncrediMail.
The configuration to be made is as follows:
POP server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com Port 995 With SSL security
SMTP server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port 465 With SSL security
While you wait to figure out what's going on with Gmail, try using your Yahoo account...

Maybe I didn't all understand but if the fact is Connie lost her password, she just needs to ask for another 16 digit password ? It's what I understand from what she wrote. Of course if Google asked her to change her own password, it can't match with the digit password so she needs another one. But maybe she already tried that

Alas Saskia, it's more complicated than that...
On Connie's Google account, the possibility of creating an application password no longer exists... the explanations given by Google are difficult to understand... what I understand is that "the verification in two steps" done by connie is only valid for "security keys", but connie says she doesn't need security keys and that's not it...
Here we are...
I'll try to figure it out, but in the meantime Connie could use her Yahoo account in IM

Tommy ,I went to my yahoo account,clicked on Security.That opens up and you see where you can change your password and 2 Step Verification(I did not mess with this).To the right of that you see Other Ways To Sign IN.Under that it says App Password,then Generate App Password.Clicked on that then clicked get started.Where it said Enter Your App's Name I typed Incredimail then clicked Generate Password.An orange box appeared that said Sorry this feature is not avaible right now.I have tried three different times and get the same message.
Is there a Yahoo Premium ? Connie

I just went to check my "Yahoo" account (no Premium for me at Yahoo) and in the "Security" section there is a chapter called "Other connection methods" which offers "Generate an application password", just click on it to get the password to put in IncrediMail, I had no difficulty...
I connected to the (French) Yahoo forum which does not talk about problems of this order... try to see on the English-speaking forums...

OMG... I have IM Back.

I went through everything in my google/gmail account.

I found where it was stopping me from getting 16 didit passcode.
It was my Phone... Of all things.

I kept digging and digging through files and came across where it showed me my phone
through google had me on pass key.Clicked the help button and it told me to go to my google account on my phone and close/sign out of it.
Then I came back to my account here and typed in app password in search box and it took me to a page
that let me create an app password,typed in Incredimail and it gave me my pass code numbers.I then copied and went to IM and pasted it in my password..

Thank you so so much for all the help you gave me and were trying to give me.. I bet you were about to start pulling your hair out when you saw my messages. lol... Take Care...Connie

Finally some good news regarding this annoying problem!
I am sure that your experience will be useful to all those who will find themselves faced with the same enigma...
So I think the secret is to remove the two-step verification on your smartphone so you can use it to create an app password that you can use in IncrediMail!
